Our brother, oh! our brother,

That fell upon our spirits
When on light'ning wings it sped,
And told us thou, beloved one,
Wert sleeping with the dead.

Loving hands had tried to save him,
Physicians were in vain;
God, the Chief, cam to his relief,
And eased him of his pain.
